It's been a hot one here chez Casa Reynard today.
A busy day of assorted erranding and adulting. I'm tired and exhausted. But at least the fridge freezer is up and running and now suitably stocked with dairy products. I've also repatriated the stuff a friend had in her fridge freezer.
The latter errand also involved cat and dog cuddles. Six cats and two miniature schnauzers.
Sitting here trying to stay awake.

The TV in Epsom hospital's A&E unit has just showed "Inside the Ambulance" and "999 Rescue Squad", much to the consternation of the head nurse.

Had the wee manny round today to install fibre broadband today. All was going well until he realised that because the location of the external trunking he has to access into to complete the connection is under 10cm of concrete and he doesn't carry a Kango as part of his toolkit.
As happened with our neighbour, it's going to be a revisit and entail cutting out a 30cm. x 30cm. square of said concrete to complete the job.

The cat sanctuary in central Norfolk that I volunteer with has several middle aged cats all looking for that forever home.
I have been looking for a shorthaired tortie, in the 3 to 7 year age range, who is friendly and outgoing, not too assertive but equally not too shy, and that's used to living with other cats. And with the right temperament for the show bench.
Thought I'd found what I was looking for earlier this year with a lovely tortie oriental, but the breeder changed her mind - after all the paperwork had been done, and the day I turned up to pick up my cat.

I was in the local A&E when the first episode of Casualty was broadcast. The staff taking turns at watching it, seeing how true to life it was.
Torties don't seem to be that common in sanctuaries; mostly tabbies, tuxedos & gingers. Although we do have a couple of torties just now.
But apart from a preference for DSH cats, I look for the personality which I believe is much more important than colour or breed.
Although having said that, it is very rewarding getting a rescue cat with issues and working them round.

That last sentence describes Madam Lexi to a T - one of 42 cats rescued from one house here in Ely. Mother of the entire males in the house, but had been neutered by the owner's daughter. As the only neuter, she was at the bottom of the pecking order when it came to the scrabble for food, water and the litter trays. Never socialised, she's rather assertive with a tendency to bite if she doesn't get her own way. She was a demon hunter when younger, but at 12, she's starting to slow down some. But she's such a loving, quirky and fun cat, and I love her to bits.
I love torties and their attitude to life - that's why I want another one after losing Poppy last year. Tortietude is real!
And yes, I *am* searching primarily by temperament. I guess being a judge of household pets at shows has coloured my opinion of what I'd like in a cat. (I do like the friendly, purry cuddlebum timewasters).
I had a relaxing afternoon. I went for a browse in my favourite second-hand book/record/all sorts of weird stuff shop but was disciplined enough not to buy something. An evening off from festival duties.
It is now pouring rain and likely to stay that way for most of the weekend.
A friend's daughter has had her cancer treatment stopped and is nearing the end. She's only in her 30s.
