Perhaps because they are chilled the flavour is less noticeable, plus if they make them suitably bland there aren't any strong flavours for people to object to?

I don't think so, my sarnies aren't that powerful flavourwise, just 'normal' but the bread has taste likewise the fillings................. I don't know for sure but I suspect they are 'Irradiated' to kill off any bacteria and increase their 'shelf life'
I mean my own butties don't have 'exotic fillings' just normal like Cheese and Onion/Pickle, Tuna and Mayo, Ham and Mustard, Corned Beef and Mustard or Egg with Mayo and Cress nothing I haven't been eating for the past decades.

my car seems to have vanished from it's usual parking place but there is a black Audi there instead. The local garage have obviously been and taken it away for attention.
Have a strong coffee before getting in the Audi, hopefully it will counteract the weird forces that result in BMW like driving.
Showers predicted by local radio, Met Office have issued a thunderstorm warning.

Good morning from Suffolk where it's returned to normal with a bit of high cloud obscuring the sun. Coffee has been had and I will be heading out shortly to the carpet people to see what they've got and how much it's going to cost me.

I think the sunshine yesterday put everyone in a good mood - I was wearing my Foska 'HP Sauce' jersey and had plenty of jokey comments - one lady said I'd put her in the mood for a sausage & egg sarnie while I was stopped to take a photo, a couple of 'Saucy' comments and had a little joke about it with a motorist at some traffic lights.

Many moons ago, MrsPete worked at the company that was taken over by Greencore, Telfers. It first became Uniq, then Greencore.
Telfers made sandwiches solely for M&S and when The Man came in to check the quality, if he wasn't happy with the amount & quality, the entire batch got rejected.
I had lovely sandwiches in my work lunchbox when that happened 😂

I've taken out lawnmower for a walk around the garden. I'm now having s rest. It is sunny and warm out.

That was standard M&S practice hence the factory shops that were full of M&S seconds, typically with nothing wrong with them. Remember a pair of trousers that eventually got returned to them when my mother finally realised my complaints were genuine - the two halfs of the trousers were different waist sizes.

Telfers originally made the pies, as well as the sarnies, for M&S in Moulton Park, Hamtun. Apparently they substituted cheaper meat cuts than specified. M&S found out and pulled the plug on them within hours.
They only just kept the sandwich making!
