One of my dads uncles work his way up to be a managing director of a company in London. Him and his wife got invited to all the social events. They went to it a few times, they also got invited to see the Ceremony of the Key. Which then was not widely open to the public.

I too, have seen both. Albeit I was very small at the time (this would've been circa 1979, I think) and I only remember snatches.

No idea but lot 390 looks more fun.
You big kid.
You realise you'll need to pay to have a go?

I was going to go for a nice long bike ride today but the weather wasn't looking too great plus I wasn't feeling too well, so I gave the car a good clean using some traffic film remover to which I was surprised at how well it works at getting all the grooded brake dust off the wheels and all the general muck from underneath the wheel arches.
I never use this stuff before apart from at work on the fork trucks but it seems to do a very good job I getting the worst off

Off to see me dad tomorrow for father's Day. He's getting on a bit now and completely old school and whilst looking in the shops today for something to buy him, I've bought him what he really likes and that's beer in fags. Obviously not the most healthiest of choices but at his age I'm never gonna change him, so I'll just get what he enjoys

Good morning from another of those partly sunny, partly cloudy mornings in Suffolk. Lousy night's sleep and the first coffee of the day doesn't seem to have done much. Hopefully a shower and shave before breakfast will perk me up a bit. Will pop round to see my dad later on this morning.

I'm up. It's Bed Stripping Day today.
I must get round to changing my bedding today as well.

@tyred - if you're in Dumfries & Galloway you could do part of the new Kirkpatrick C2C route through southern Scotland: https://scotlandstartshere.com/kirkpatrickc2c

I'm looking at it as a 'possible' in August.

That certainly takes me back many years. We used to spend a lot of time down there in the 1960's when the roads were less busy than they will be now. Good area for cycling.

Light rain in prospect all day so not going anywhere unless by car.
I see bits of masts of a tall ship in the bay but my view is obscured by trees. The whole area has a lot of tree cover but an old fisherman told me that when he first started fishing here many years ago the hillsides were bare of trees.
Macgauchan who was a neighbour complained that when he went poaching on the mainland and returned late at night by boat the tree growth was obscuring the leading lights he used. His real name was MacFarlane and he now has a pub named after him as he was born in a house where the pub now is.
He used to regale my wife with screeds of doggerel poetry he composed.

Off now to make tatties scones.
