Good morning. Staff meeting today.

First "proper" ju jitsu session last night after the summer recess (there was a class last week, but that was a non-syllabus session, learning "fun" stuff).

Today I feel like someone has "tickled" my left thigh with a cricket bat.

That sounds like what I was warned about doing at school, when it were my turn to bat.
Protective equipment worn by all near the wicket, if I were batting.

Strange things are happening here. A local village has been described as very peaceful and quiet, with lots of cycle routes. So why has it suddenly moved to the Wharfedale Valley in Yorkshire?

Everyone wants to be in Yorkshire.

The German government ran a "National emergency notification" test today. Unlike the damp squib of a few years back this seemed to work better; everyone's smart phone alarm went off at 11am*, and the display had a big red box with "Don't Panic" on it, or at least the German version of "Don't Panic" which takes about fifty words, 27 exclamation marks, and looks absolutely terrifying...

*Except mine, for some reason...

What's the German for "They don't like it up 'em! They don't like it up 'em!

I took Mrs. GA to Lincoln, Illinois, the only town named for him while has was still alive. He christened the town site with a watermelon, of which there is a statue. Lincoln surveyed the town site, and did the legal work involved in the incorporation, IIRC.

I am awake enough to go and do some work in the garage
