Mazda 3 2.0 petrol, 298 miles since last brimming., computer showed 55.5 mpg
Brimmed it again, came out at 52.93 mpg.

Computer not far off reality....

Guys on a Honda Jazz forum have noted a 4% over optimistic mpg reading so you're not far off from what they seem to be getting. When I've bothered calculating my actual mpg, I've not found it to be that inaccurate, maybe 1% out. But the ''fibometer'' always works to produce a higher mpg figure.
