Thunderstorms never arrived, just a lot of dark clouds and smidge of rain that drenched the car but avoided the back yard! They did say they would be localised but?! Definitely feeling much better today. I drove to the national park for walk. First time I'd been in a while. Managed to fit an 8km walk in without getting wet.

I note the cafe have put the price of their cake up again.

An Audi driver seemed to be annoyed at me for slowing down for the speed limit going through a village.

In view of the urgent nature of the emergency, the boat building committee is being formed as fast as possible; it's scheduled to meet two weeks next Thursday.

Yep, sounds exactly the same as a crossing I did many years ago between Dover and Zeebrugge on, I think, the European Trader.

The Liverpool - Dublin sailing was around 11 hour's long though.

Dover-Zeebrugge was about 4 and a half hours, depending on the tides. But one time the weather was really foul, and it took us 12 hours to make the crossing on the old Pride of Bruges (ex-Pride of Free Enterprise). That was weird when we got back onto terra firma.

Townsend Thoresen got bought out by P&O shortly after, and all the ships in the fleet were re-named. For instance, the Spirit of Free Enterprise got renamed Pride of Kent, the Free Enterprise VIII became the Pride of Canterbury etc.

Mind you , shortly after, we ended up using the Belgian ferries instead. I sailed on most of their car and passenger ships.
