Mega flip. Having to avoid gluten toasters are pure evil with all those crumbs of wheat in them. Took my own toaster with me to dad's and it appears, due to its complete absence, that I have left it there. So a fruitless car trip to both Aldi and Lidl who for once were devoid of such and one purchased from Asda with a two year guarantee rather than the three I was hoping for.

My dad has this issue: I'm going to have to Train Beautiful Daughter to keep everything separate because, as you say it inly takes a crumb...

That's the thing about true food allergies it don't take much. We've to be so carful about some additives just a bit and Mrs 73 get's a bad migraine and is out for a day or two.

Warm and occasionally sunny here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept well, but had a very strange dream about exams and cats. Yeah, I've not figured it out either. Have spent the morning working on the archive - namely going through a load of files I downloaded from the British Library's newspaper archive earlier in the year. This lot is from 1987 when Paul was racing in FF2000, but largely, they aren't terribly useful or informative. Most of them are just name checks in local "what's on this weekend" type things. There's a handful of race reports in the batch, but to be honest, because I had limited access to the archive, I just downloaded everything that came up in the search pattern I used and figured I'd sort it all out later.

This afternoon, I intend on doing some grass cutting if the rain holds off. The forecast says it will.

Anyways, it is time for luncheon.

Finally registered myself and Beautiful Daughter with the German Embassy in the UK.

Also found that despite the Exit That Can Not Be Named our German health insurance is valid in the UK "at the moment" so we don't need extra. This is handy as I'd forgotten that detail...

Yes, it may be valid, but do you have to pay for treatment, if needed, and then claim back the costs?

I have, apparently, been liked 10000 times. How should I celebrate?

Most basic treatment inc primary care is free (same NHS chargers apply as normal eg prescriptions) up to what ever Germany has agreed to pay for. In any case all emergency treatment is free no matter what agreement is in place. All other treatment is charged at 150% of NHS rate. That's before you claim on any insurance you have. All EHIC are still valid too until they run out.
Any planned treatment is a bit different but for most visitors don't it wont apply.

Last time we had to use it this wasn't the case; we just had to fill in a truckload of forms.

Most common meds you can buy in shops classed as OTC's. ibuprofen , antihistamine and the like inc Calpol. Higher dose and a good few more specialised common pharmacy only drugs. You can get from the chemist without a prescription. Pharmacists will give advice for and most can treat many common things via Pharmacy first or what ever locally they call it.
York has a walk in Urgent Treatment Centre at the hospital for most common none emergency treatment. (A bit like one below A&E same applies you can just walk in.) NHS 111 is free to use who ever you are as his NHS online.
