Actually it was excellent.

Felt a bit sorry for Lando who suffered safety car karma effectively ending his title challenge unless Max has a DNF, but it was undeniably a world championship worthy drive by Verstappen.

I'd kind of beg to differ.

Especially since the only driver who bothered shutting the door in Max's face was Charles Leclerc. The rest of them laid out the red carpet for him. Until he actually has to really work for for every single spot, I'm sticking to my guns here.

To be fair…
Max was catching most of them by surprise and sending it from an apparently impossible distance. I recall a few years back being in awe of his wet weather control at Interlagos. I’m not a fan and was hoping that Lando would close the points gap based on qualifying but there’s no doubt that Max had a fantastic drive today. Even when he was out the front, he was in a different league.

The start was a bit Keystone Cops though.

On the other hand...

He wasn't, until the red flag. After the first few laps, he spent much of the first half of the race stuck behind Leclerc, unable to get past.

Crazy quali and a crazy race.

I thought it was a good race, if not a little protracted. Not a fan of max in general but the boy can drive. Deserved the win but also thought almost everyone let him on his way, whether that was the lack of visibility or just didn't want the chance of contact. TBF to him the moves were all clean. Alpines drove a good race with a nice little boost to their kitty. Norris and Russel were unlucky but overall I just don't think Norris has that killer in him and that last couple of percent to ring the neck a car.

I dont understand why the race went on for two and a half hours as i thought the limit was 2 and the other one is why Albon didnt get Colapinto's car. I thought a team could do that and in this instance it would have made more sense (to me anyway) to try and bag those points.

Whilst that's true, he did start in 17th and had to get to LeClerc in the first place. But I agree after that without DRS he was stuck. He did demonstrate just how fast that car is in the wet compared to the others and to be able to find grip to do those early overtakes where others just couldn't

Yebbut Stroll binned it, Albon didn't start, Perez spun, Liam Lawson said "After you, dear chap"

I thought the officials were far too slow. The red flag should have come out laps before. If the idea was not to upset the TV audiences then the main point is the viewers need to see. I watched highlights so that was edited but there sections where you couldn't see the cars.

What really wound me up was for them to penalise cars for receiving outside assistance!

I didn’t understand the drivers whinging about the conditions whilst still being on intermediate tyres.

I agree, but on the other hand as it stands the rules as they stand mean that where deteriorating conditions mean a safety car or red flag is likely anyone stopping would lose out with race position and anyone not stopping would get a free or cheap stop.

Logical conclusion is that when a heavy sudden rain is predicted everyone stays on slicks and waits for someone to drop it.
