McLaren are, unsurprisingly, moaning.

Stella reckons Norris was ahead at the apex an Verstappen went off as well.

Well, im not sure which race he was watching because the one I saw had Max take a late entry to the corner and he was undeniably well ahead at the apex, so he gets to dictate the line.

Max went very wide but his two nearside wheels stayed firmly on the white line so he didn't exceed track limits.

Stella moaning that Max does this all the time. Well, it's legal, fair, and if he does it all the time Norris was stupid to try the move from so far back.

I'm not always a Max fan but fail to see what he did wrong there. McLaren are just starting to come apart mentally, as Wolfy did, as the drivers championship slowly slips away.

Cracking performance from Lawson. Perez must surely now have a serious squeaky bum issue, and Tsunoda will be seriously pithed off.
Both Verstappen and Norris went off the track, both received a warning for it. The final one for Norris, for which he got a 5 second penalty.
Norris overtook whilst off the track, Verstappen didn't.

Another race ruined by being decided off the the track in a room.

Well no, you can't overtake yourself. The contentious bit seems to be that Verstappen ensure that they both went off track so that Norris couldn't get the overtake done. On the flip side, it is argued that Verstappen takes that line with no surrender all the time without being penalised, so it's not strictly an illegitimate tactic and one that should be expected of him, although it's questionably somewhat unsporting.

Looking at it properly (I pay for three FIA feeds of all the teams) Max's nearside wheels do indeed fully cross the white lines, which couldn't be clearly seen from the website I'd been watching the race on (I dint have a TV licence, don't watch live tv.)

Unlike Norris though Max didn't already have two warnings for exceeding track limits under his belt.

Unsurprisingly, McLaren's appeal failed.

Just think of the number of personnel involved in that appeal. The lost time and resources, the distraction, all at a time when they're at risk of losing their grip on the one championship they are actually leading. It belies a weakness of management and an absence of overall season-long planning. In short, they're flapping and these silly games are not only indicative of that but are playing into their rivals hands. If Fezza snatch the manufacturers championship from them I'll be laughing my arse off.

It's a shame because I predict great things for Piastri and he, along with Lawson, is my favourite driver of the moment. The best thing CEO Zak Brown could do is leave the running of the F1 team to the people paid to run the F1 team - having a business leader second guessing everything is not doing them any good. Red Bull and Fezza are laughing behind his back at how easily Brown's eye comes off the ball.

Max is being a plonker. It's one thing exploiting every last quirkmor rhe regs, quite another being a complete tit.

He deserves those penalties, albeit it should be noted one of them wasndoint exactly the same as he did in Austin where he was found to have done nothing wrong.

Colapinto doing amazing things with the Williams, pushing the car well beyond its abilities.

'ang on a minute! My pumpkins are waaaaaaay better than a racing driver that wants his bottom paddled!

An interesting race tho. One of the better ones. I actually stayed awake for the whole thing.

No, he wasn't penalised for doing something wrong. That's not quite the same thing, and there were a lot of complaints again about his driving - hence conversations now happening about sportsmanlike driving and possible rule changes to make it clear that Verstappen cannot continue to drive people off the track.

Kudos to Lawson giving Perez the finger as he finally breezed past on the straight.

Perez, who can probably feel his job prospects diminishing (or a demotion to VCARB - the drivers are signed to Red Bull GMBH and not an individual team) unsurprisingly had a lot to say about it.

And fair play to Carlos once more.

Well after a dullish sprint, the main race is shaping up to be interesting. Norris on pole and a complaining verstappen down in 17th just behind Hamilton
