Yep, but with restrictions on PUs and key components he'll want to aave the car as much as he can. That's the downside of the cost and allocation rules, drivers won't push 100% 100% of the time.

The teams are restricted on the number of engine maps they can use over a weekend, and the FIA - as can paying fans - access all the telemetry data, so if he were holding back to disguise performance it would be obvious even to clued up amateurs.

I reckon Jos is the leaker. He's come out as very anti Horner and is making a lot of noise today, even threatening that Max could go to MB.

Tomato Wilf would love that I'm sure. Bag the best driver of his generation and poke Red Bull Spice in the eye at the same time.

Whether it's contractually possible is another matter, but no one was seriously thinking Jos was the leaker until he started denying it to anyone who'd listen. That sounds to me as if his plan hasn't worked and he wants to give things a little nudge. Not very subtle.

Our SIL is an associate member and its funny, I get the feeling while it's a very formal organisation, , their events become very informal and friendly, all treated equal. I can visualise them sitting round a table, drink In hand, nattering away just like in Family Guy

And they're all normal guys, plumbers, sparkies, small businessmen, and me. Few captains of industry, judges, etc, as the Guardian would have you believe.

Back to topic, there's a Silverstone lodge for racing drivers and those who work in Motorsport. A friend of mine is a machinist for AM and is a member, I could probably wangle an invite, hob nob with a few senior members of various teams.

He was Jos the Toss back when he was driving but he's well out of depth going up against Horner.

I agree. My boy will leave or else. Empty threat is empty. Walk away from a car that's massively quicker than the rest so that someone else (about half the Grid I'd say) can come in and be WDC. Not really thought this out have you, you thug.

I find my sympathies in a different place at the end of the weekend to where they were at the start.

It would be an interesting experiment. Like him or loathe him, Max can clearly make the car go a lot faster than Perez. It would be fascinating to see which drivers could make the car work that well. I'd guess Alonso, Hamilton, Sainz, LeClerc, Norris, Russell possibly...
