Despite the academies and young driver programmes there's no immediate star on the horizon. They'll have little choice for the next 1-2 years but to use an existing driver.
Apparently there's a chap called Antonelli on the Horizon who is being touted to be the next big thing

He’s been mentioned a few times.

Antonelli is supposed to be the new Senna .. but we've heard that before about other new lads . Moto GP have Pedro Acosta moving up from Moto 2 and his times have been fantastic , but its harder in F1 to impress from the off , most guys need at least a few races

Jacques Villeneuve nearly won his first race, thwarted only by an oil leak and team orders. Lewis came 3rd in his first race. Both went on to be runners up in their rookie seasons.

Yes it’s a tough place to stand out, but if given the opportunity it’s possible.

I'm looking forward to season start to see if anyone has come up with a car that will actually make this season winner not a foregone conclusion.

I'd be very surprised if Max doesn't have his way again given the gulf between them and second place last year

Debate already over whether it meets the regs. It may even be a bluff designed to distract attention from other parts of the car, which Mercedes have form for.

Indeed. We must also remember they started their 24 car earlier than anyone else, and had extra resources by virtue of essentially ceasing technical development of their 23 car fairly early on in the season, with the effort moving to developing their understanding or the setup (which will also benefit them in 24.)

Unless they drop a major clanger, or if the team suffers a shock with major ramifications (Red Bull Spice leaving...?) he must surely be the favourite until the new technical regs of 26 arrive.

I've not seen this yet. What's the outcome?

As for Max, I'd agree that it's going to be a struggle for anyone to overturn them but I suppose we thought the same with merc until 21.

I don't care if max wins as long as there is more than him fighting for it. Checo was poos last year

I don't think there's a concensus yet. The regs say the vane has to be attached to the nose, some reckon that counts, others reckon the rod isn't a vane. I'd go with the latter, but if it came down to it the mattermisnt for me to decide.

Assuming it's real and not just misdirection, I guess teams will wait to see if it looks likely to work before objecting/copying.

My ruddy eyes/brain. I read it as "debates" already over

It's a cheeky interpretation indeed as they will class it as an extension to the vane. I suppose it depends on whether the dimensions of the vane have been specified and how much wiggle room it left.
