Well it isn't just "feeder", it is also a place for trialling potential new drivers.

Right, so if Yuki has done his time and hasn’t got the call-up then why is he there?

On another morepoignant note, this week's Christmas double issue sees the last of Autosport magazine as a weekly publication - the end of an era that began on the 25th August 1950.

I used to buy it religiously every week from the mid 80s through to about 2010-ish, when it went from being "the bible" to a more F1 and lifestyle-orientated publication. I also contributed in a small way as a retained club racing photographer for close to a decade.

I used to buy Motor Sport from early 60s in my early teens and used to have tons of them stacked in cardboard boxes , went off to university in Dublin and my mother threw them all out ! I will always remember an ad ( they were all in black and white then ) always inside the back cover of Motor Sport for " Scott Montcrieff , purveyors of horseless carriages to the nobility and gentry since ..( cant remember the year) and pics of beautiful old Rolls etc . There is one headline I remember from inside Autosport when Dan Gurney won at Spa which said "Eagle flies high at Spa" I wish I had them now .

If Yuki has the Honda clout that is implied then it’s a strong possibility. But number 2 to whom?

That indeed is the question, as much as I love Alonso, I think he has passed the pinnacle of prowess and we have seen a decline in him over the last 18months. Ideally they want some up and coming young spunker ready to be ready when the car is ready, but not going to cost a fortune throwing the car at the scenery every race.

YOU may think it dull, but desperate petrol-heads are reposting this all over social media!

What could be dull about 14 paragraphs which amount to "Hamilton is getting used to his new car. He and Leclerc were both out testing. Leclerc in the morning and Hamilton in the afternoon. They have to use an old car and can't drive too far due to rules. Now lets explain that different teams have different cars with different software that can be set up in different ways...".

I'm willing to bet that similar exercises are going on in all the other teams, and - I'll go out on a limb here - I bet that happens every year.

I have to say, Hamilton going over to Ferrari might...I say might, re ignite my interest in F1.
It's become boring, lost its spark for me personally.
I went off Hamilton once he started highjacking F1 for his own beliefs, which I respect, but personally, I hate sport being highjacked for people's causes. Doesn't matter the sport or the personality. I watch and enjoy something for its purity. Muddy the waters...I'm not interested.

But.. id like to see him do well in another team, see things mixed up a bit. It may be the best thing that's happened in F1 in some time...imho of course

Don't stop there, this is fascinating!
