Another race that proves Max doesn't really know how to race in close company. All very well and good p*ssing off at the front of the field, but when he's in amongst them, he makes too many errors. He needs a season in the BTCC to get a *proper* education.

Not entirely sure why Russell got the penalty for the incident with Max, as the onus is on the car coming from behind to behave themselves. Looking at the replay there was no way Max was going to get the car stopped in time. George is a gentleman for taking the blame there, but really, I'm not sure its his fault, as he just took the normal line into the corner.

As for the unsafe release...

Trouble is, if the penalties had been applied correctly, that would have cost Max nearly half a minute of track position, and we can't be having that, can we?

Glad to see Lando was ok. That was a big one... *ouch*

Regarding Russels interaction with Verstappen, I'm not sure why Russel got penalised.
IMO he HAD to turn in because if the immediately impending barriers, added Max was an axle behind, George clearly in front.
I turned it off around lap 32, another race that simply failed to excite me. I'm trying to enjoy the races but the presentation, the presenters, the cars, the drivers, the racing (its not that anymore, its lots of cars sprinting imho) with an occasional coming together that resembles a race of old...just isn't doing it for me.

Never thought I'd get bored with it all....but I'm intensely bored with it all.

I agree 1st penalty spot on , I was amazed that Russell got a penalty , Max made a late dive, for George to avoid him he's heading for the wall . Unsafe release was close but normally done on GPS positioning so I could let that go

i'm with you. Very gentlemanly of Russell to take the blame, but Max knew that Russell would be following the racing line on that corner and left him nowhere to go. Another attempt to push a car off track, just like the first corner.

I enjoyed the race though. Shame Hamilton picked up a puncture or it might have been even more tasty in the closing laps. LeClerc's overtake on the last lap was fantastic.

Anyone apart from had any interest in rallying?
@Reynard might have done some coverage?
Well it's the Roger Albert Clark rally this weekend and Monday and on Friday night they finished in Wales and yesterday and today they re started in Carlisle. Back when I use to freelance work on rallying the bit between the stages was a road section and the cars were driven by the competing crews and closely followed by a chase/management car well now they are allowed to be trailered in between.
I can understand it but I can't get my head around it

Used to be well into rallying, but lost mucho interest in recent years. Especially as the top flight was largely always won by the same two blokes - Ogier & Loeb. Got very samey after a while.

256,000 tonnes of CO2 per F1 season seems to be the deal.
A football World Cup rocks in at over 2 million tonnes of CO2.

I never buy these carbon neutrality figures. They just seem made up to me and rely on offsets to make them seem "better".

I liked Seb's bee hotel think in Japan a few weeks ago. That's got a lot more credibility than offsetting stuff. All international sport is hugely polluting.
