Yes I know, good sprint race for max and Lewis, the floor upgrade seems to be working well.

Although still 10 seconds behind Max on a short 19 lap sprint race, so not all that well in absolute terms.

Pundits have short memories. People should recall the lessons of Singapore just a few weeks ago - a lone swallow does not make a spring.

When Lewis is consistently scoring 2nd or even winning the odd race, then we can say the floor is working. As things presently stand he hasn't done anything here that he hasn't already managed previously this season, long before the new floor arrived.

There a good chance the new floor is part of the 2024 development and they're using the last few races of this season to evaluate it.

It's hardly Mystic Meg though is it. The other teams have been edging closer all year. If Merc aren't winning races next year, hard questions will be being asked. All of the teams are getting closer to having optimal cars.

And exactly as I predicted. Max manages his tyres better and gets to choose, so goes for the undercut. Suddenly Ramilton is sucking on his exhaust 8 seconds further back.

Threw his toys out of the pram near the end though with Lewis bearing down on him. Only just held on for the win this time.

Good recovery from Ramilton, but while the meds are quicker tjwn the hards their performance also falls off quicker. A little less keen in the initial laps of the final stint and he might have had enough left to bag Max, although even then it would have been marginal.

A brave effort from Norris.

A crap day for LeClerc.

And a hard fought one for Max, up from 6th to 1st. Listening to the team radios I got the impression he was really working for that one.

If Mercedes had timed Hamiltons first stop better he would have had a genuine chance of fighting Verstappen for the win, but they left it too late and gave him too much to do.

They also messed up slightly. Cost him an extra second in the pits.
