They met the FIAs entry requirements and that doesn't guarantee entry.

As for the prize money, if some teams are already running a loss them what does less money in the pot mean?

Plus 200 mill split 10 ways to cover 5 years of reduced earning. Would you do it if you were a TP for one of the 10?

Mclaren are only backing because of Indy car and Alipne have a vested interest. Otherwise they too would be against.

The FIA are the sport, not the commercial rights leasers.

The teams are no longer running at loss and their worth is increasing .

If I was a team owner I'd remember I'd signed the concorde agreement governing the rules for a new teams entry.

The teams will have reasons to support a new entry or not and they will all be selfish reasons .

Of course they are going to be selfish. That's business and F1 for you. The value is increasing now but that 10 had to roll with the hard times before it happened.

The agreement was signed but that was pre a lot of world events that have changed the landscape. Re-negotiation can happen and if the 8 hold their nerve then there is no sport as we've seen with breakaway threats before.

Then they can wait until the next concorde agreement.

It would appear so.

Maybe the important thing is the recovery of the taxes. If people like this were threatened with heavy punishments, they have the money to tie the process up in courts for decades.

My Dad knew Ecclestone in the 60's. Word was then that he was the man to see (Ecclestone, not my Dad) if you had a stolen motorbike you wanted to sell. I'm not saying gpthat was the case, but that is apparently the word going round at the time.

That matches more or less with some things I've heard from folks "in the know"

He's as weasly as a weasly thing, but sometimes he could be as upright and moral as they come. Like over selecting a driver to replace Elio de Angelis after Elio's fatal testing accident at Paul Ricard when the Brabham BT55's rear wing failed.

Drivers started phoning the Brabham office minutes after the crash happened, looking to take over Elio's drive. Bernie hired the only driver who didn't contact him at all.

Didn't he make a comment along the lines of being fed up paying people big money to swerve for him so decided to settle?
