Yes it looks like it was the track.

I’m still not convinced. To have such a dramatic drop in performance from peerless to also-rans, when they had been so dominant at all circuits so far (including street tracks where Checo tends to shine, not forgetting he won at Singapore last year).

The main evidence that leads me to conclude there is something underhand at play is Horner’s insistence that there isn’t.

:laugh::laugh: I did notice he was over egging the pudding somewhat, maybe they weren't ready with the car changes, What happened to the floor edges they put on then took off?

It has happened occasionally to RB over the years. They do t drop regular clangers, but when they do it tends to be a good one.

Max being half a second faster than Sainz in FP isn't down to some mad panicked redesign of the car over the last 5 days beause they've had to throw half of it away.

Mercedes used to drop the ball like that too, I reckon it was aliens with them too .

Normal service has resumed, Max a whopping 2/3 of a second faster than the next car. That pretty much rubbishes the technical directive speculation in some of the less informed media outlets.

A lot of us, knowing how fast and loose F1 teams play with the regulations, were wondering about that, even some well informed people.

I wasn't, and I'm not terribly well informed.

Red Bull Spice has been one of the most vocal critics of flexi aerodynamic parts and has been calling for greater attention into the problem for some time. It'd be daft to call such attention to the issue if they were into it in any significant way.

Some folk reckong Red Bull Spice was pulling some kind of elaborate double bluff with the noise he's been making about the matter, but I can't see how that would in any way work, much less benefit him. If you're being naughty you keep your head down, you don't shout, "look at me!"

Since they started putting reference markings on the wings it looked to my untrained eye that Mercedes were one of the worst offenders, and strangely enough Toto was fairly Q on the topic.

It always sounded like Horner protested too much, and it doesn't have to be the wing, it could be something in the floor or anywhere else where they've found a grey area to exploit, teams go through the regulations with a fine tooth comb looking for anything they can exploit to gain an advantage. Its looking like it was the track the car didn't like, but they had new floor edges at Singapore put them on then took them off and didn't use them, this weekend Max has a new floor and Cheko has an old floor.
