I stuck to Radio Le Mans, the live timing screen on the WEC webpage and the live text updates from the Autosport website.

Shame "my" team aka United Autosports had a stinker, but congrats to Inter Europol on winning LMP2. Gutted the Iron Dames lost out on a podium in GT Am - they were in the mix for that all race long.

Cadillac done good, Peugeot were a "what might have been", Porsche underperformed, and Glickenhaus surprised the critics.

Some of the "Ferrari moments" followed them across to sportscars - and their inexperience in the category showed. The #50 car came into the pits in the wee hours of Sunday morning with a holed radiator - unsurprising given how much rubbish was on track after the #94 Peugeot binned it, and after the pile-up between the #35 Alpine, #66 GT am Ferrari, #7 Toyota and another car I can't quite remember.

The radiator (for the hybrid system cooling) was in a carbon housing, and they had to remove the housing, and then remove the radiator from inside, put the new rad in, reassemble the whole shebang and fit it back in place.. The replacement radiator didn't fit into the housing, which is why the car lost 40 mins in the pits.

An old boss of mine who competed in motor sport would always check that any spares carried would fit before them being added to the spares package. This often meant we had to de assemble big chunks of his cars just to double check and then re build using the original part .

Particularly wise for things like rallying and endurance racing where work is done either under the clock at a service halt / service point, or in endurance racing, where the objective is to get the work done as quickly as possible to avoid falling too far behind.

The most entertaining was the 2CV 24 hours that used to be held at Snetterton - took about 15 mins to change an engine.

The problem, as we saw towards the end of the 24h is that parts which fit the A car may not necessarily fit the B car as they are hand built and all slightly different.
One car needed a new front end and they had to use a spare from the other car, and it wasn’t a good fit.

Quick reminder for anorak BTCC watching types - the first part will be on ITV1 this Sunday before switching over to the normal ITV4 channel at 2pm.

Meanwhile I will be at Snetterton for the British GTs - both races should be live streamed if you search for the GT World YouTube channel.

I was thinking about posting a reminder, but you beat me to it...

Looks like we'll all be dodging the showers on Sunday.
