Managed just over an hour today. Took on all the bumps I could, and cornered and descended much more confident than last week.

Sorry to hear your news @Col5632 , I back up telemarks suggestion to put yourself forward to get experience in that other area.

56k for me today, earliest I've been so wet on a ride (and not through excitement!).

Just to say we are now a one car family which makes a lot of sense for us but may curtail my involvement in rides further afield, especially when Karen is on call. Please therefore don't be insulted if I don't immediate sign up for a ride, it's only fair that I wait and see if the car will be available - either that or I'll be cycling to the start of ALL rides!!

Congratulations @Fubar, your mileage will rocket  .. from running errands on the bike, commuting, visiting friends, cycling to and from CC Ecosse rides. Just watch out, you'll need a cart horse type bike with big panniers next, like my tank, or a wee basket next  (we are a no-car family).

P.S. There ARE trains as well, and maybe the occasional friendly CCer to provide lifts.

 oh no, I hope it was only the leggings and no injuries to you!
Did the derailleur destroy any/a lot of spokes? Luckily you have a selection of bikes to keep you going ...

Ahem ... can't tell you about my injuries after I told @Ellebells I would kill her if she mentioned them on CC
Derailleur did not destroy any spokes, actually finished the ride, left the girls to go to work, rode home at the end of my shift.
The bike is fine as long as I don't go into the biggest sprocket at the back.
The sharp edge under the saddle will be bandaged

Very sorry to hear about your work troubles, @Col5632

Assuming you want to stay with your current company, would it be worth grabbing the bull by the horns/talking to your boss and saying you would like to re-train if possible? Would show a positive attitude and all that ... unless you feel it would put the spotlight on you for the wrong reasons of course ...
:hugs:

Sadly not really an option, unless im sent on a course to learn all about software and programming, My mrs has already said not to worry if it happens, but loosing a job is never great.

I know its not ideal @Fubar but i do have a car rack and a car we can use if you need to get anywhere

Oh dear, I won't ask for details  ... hope the injuries are quick to sort themselves out! Glad the bike wheel is in one piece, otherwise it could have been expensive!

Lucky escape for me today: was meant to pick up @Hellsbells2504 bike then ride it to her new abode - good luck in your new flat, Helen! But a very kind charity pick up van man dropped it off.
Soooooo: raining buckets, no work for me today, planning not to venture out all day!

Trainee mechanics still not got the gears sorted, then ??
Good to see that the Belles are not just leaning to ride with more confidence but mechanics too :bravo:.

I went out for a wee ride, too, once the rain had passed through :wahhey:
exploring some new links between routes I knew already (roughly Portobello - Elphinstone - Tranent - Musselburgh) ... only a few wee hills lumps, not nearly as cold or windy as I was expecting, and only one short sharp shower on the way back .
There is some snow on the higher Pentland Hills tops (500+m), and on the highest slopes of the Lammermuirs - visibility not brilliant, so no photos of the far away snow .
