Only two wee rides for me today, spent most of the morning on/off the bike Christmas shopping in the city centre. Roads & shops relatively quiet still, and got away again just as it started to get really quite busy ... nae parking problems at all, pretty much outside the shops ... a total of 6.1 k over 2 hours = 3 kph (or ~2mph for the metrically challenged ).
Just back from the 2nd ride, had to pedal really hard downhill in a middling gear, MetOffice shows gusts up to 49mph for the last hour - headwind much better than cross wind, as far as I am concerned. Got quite wet on the way back, but wind-assisted climbing was fun, but nothing like what @Rasmus' Crow Road ride must have been like ... Glad I had the lights with me, too.
FACT OF THE DAY: While the days are still getting a wee bit shorter overall for another week or so, today appears to have been the earliest sunset ... improving again from now on. Sunrises still have a few minutes to go in the 'wrong' direction...
