Only two wee rides for me today, spent most of the morning on/off the bike Christmas shopping in the city centre. Roads & shops relatively quiet still, and got away again just as it started to get really quite busy ... nae parking problems at all, pretty much outside the shops ... a total of 6.1 k over 2 hours = 3 kph  (or ~2mph for the metrically challenged ).
Just back from the 2nd ride, had to pedal really hard downhill in a middling gear, MetOffice shows gusts up to 49mph for the last hour - headwind much better than cross wind, as far as I am concerned. Got quite wet on the way back, but wind-assisted climbing was fun, but nothing like what @Rasmus' Crow Road ride must have been like ... Glad I had the lights with me, too.

FACT OF THE DAY: While the days are still getting a wee bit shorter overall for another week or so, today appears to have been the earliest sunset ... improving again from now on. :wahhey: Sunrises still have a few minutes to go in the 'wrong' direction...

Never really been a big drinker, only had 3-4 drinks in the last 6 months

Finally fixed the hybrid so providing i get up early enough tomorrow it will be getting used for the first time since March :hyper:
Good - and 5 of them were at the CC Ecosse Christmas Lunch !

Hope the hybrid remembers how to go ... :bicycle:

Congratulations on fixing the hybrid @Col5632 ... how did you get on with each other?

I had an unlucky morning - the Lupine went on intermittent on/off over some bumps in the road, but I got to work OK with more 'on' than 'off' lights, so safe enough. It seems the connection between the cable and the light unit has gone funny, now it's not working at all anymore :cry:. I was lucky to find a colleague with a spare Knog to get me home... very strange to only have a light to be seen with rather than one to see by . Luckily I know all the 'ordinary' bumps & potholes on the commute, there were a couple of small objects that I didn't see in time though, no harm done to the tyres, phew.
We've just dug out some old lights from the spares box, so I should be able to see again on the way to work in the the morning.
Now off to find contact details and see if/how the Lupine can be fixed...

Ouch, glad you are both OK! :B) There was ice on this site of the Forth, too, out of town anyway.
The spiked tyres I wanted were back in stock again yesterday at the site recommended by @Pat "5mph" , mine are now dispatched, total cost inc. postage from Germany less than £45 (massive discount) . I went for the Schwalbe Winter in the end (700 x 30c), there are lots of types/sizes to choose from ...
Thanks again, Pat!

Ride SAFE, out there, CC Ecosse peoples ! :cold:

We need your Cakes :hungry: and company :hugs:.

No worries, my only encounter with crunchy stuff underfoot is on the uphill into a headwind, the downhills are all on well gritted roads. Once the ice tyres have arrived and the spikes are bedded in, they will need some careful testing :hyper::crazy::biggrin:. CC Ecosse is definitely a good bad influence (I used to commute on snow all the time in Austria, a long time ago, just taking it easy)
