Don't want to name names of where it is, it's not local to Falkirk so u don't have to worry

Also I dropped the bike off last Saturday, he was meant to phone after I did on Monday to tell me if he had managed to find a spare wheel for me to use, took a wheel into him on Friday after hearing nothing for 3 days , my bike was lying upside down with my cassette and hub laying in bits

It transpires that touring bikes designed from scratch are expensive for a reason
The Kaffenstein project is turning into a bottomless money pit. :B) Bodges on top of hacks on top of kludges.

Reckless alcohol cinsumption/consumption removes opportunities to cycle. Or leaves you stinking of stella when you do a big climb on a humid day
I'm a Guinness man missen, so I'll take your word on that part. Does nowt for the eyes.

Strava seems to be an unecessary competition between strangers.
How can you enjoy a bike ride when you are worrying about times, speeds and wondering how others are doing ?
Just saying
I never really saw it as a competition against others - more just a competition against myself as I sometimes wanted to beat my PB's. I soon learned that wasn't going to happen, and even if it did it was down to the strength of the tailwind!

I am now old enough to not care about times or even distance, so I am back to just enjoying a ride for what it is. It's so much more enjoyable.

I like to see where I've been and to know if that hill was really hilly. Don't really look at my commutes anymore, but if I ride new routes I like to see them on Strava and Google maps.

Strava for me 99.9% of the time me is tracking my own fitness. When training it's good to see times and he they compare to previous efforts. Especially for me as a heavier guy on longer climbs,

Didn't help when I stopped for soup, one of the women in the shop started asking me about cycling as she is looking to buy a bike. My three fAv things in the world combining, and I smelled like pete the jakey
