BothSo, having been off the bike all of last year, and not being as young as I used to be, I'm struggling a bit on hills.
I can either:
MTFU and get hill fit OR
Fit a medium RD and an 11-32 OR
Both
Thoughts?

Why not something cycling-related but not a run-of-the-mill hill climb (grossly unfair to certain non-wannabe-racing snakes) and have a hill descent …

I find this to not really be the case. I've done loads of miles over the years without getting any better at climbing, it was only once I started deliberately seeking out climbs in the last year or so that I've improved as a climber, last week's patellar idiocy notwithstanding...Get some miles in and the rest will follow

He said "I'm struggling a bit on hills.", not "I'm not riding enough". Obviously you don't go out and do hill reps with little base fitness, but the only way to get better at hills is to ride up them...I think for @GlasgowFinn just getting on the bike is a good start, once you have some fitness behind you then go looking for the more challenging hillier routes
