@Louch is being very gracious, I held him back pure and simple. He's not the same Louch who came close to cracking on the Dunfermline ride last year, and I'm not half the cyclist I used to be (although ironically there's quite a bit more of me :mrpig:)

I could use the excuse of lugging a laptop round the island (got an email 5 minutes before leaving saying "we need you to do this" (cue a frantic release to a live website on the ferry) or my shonky knee but the simple fact is that I'm too unfit to keep up with young Louch these days.

A great day out the bike, the scabby chips were well-earned!

Just hurry and load your rode, im looking like a loner on strava!

Making me stay longer on Arran is not holding me back

Got an email about the Trossachs Ton. Really want to do it again but on the form I've had this year, there's no chance.

Prob a wise idea, no fun in cycling when you know its going to be a total struggle, there is pushing yourself and there is killing yourself
I blame the Triban!

Once I've put in my invoice (with a "HAD TO LUG A LAPTOP ROUND A 56 MILE BIKE RIDE" surcharge, obviously), I'm going to get the Focus fixed. That's probably the best way to see just how much fitness I've lost...

What's up with the Focus? Jumping from my hybrid to the triban is like night and day and 3kg in weight  not to mention the 38mm tyres compared with 23mm lol

Snapped internally routed gear cable and a lazy-arsed owner! :hello:

I simply don't like the Triban, sad to say. It's far more versatile than the Focus (aiming to go fully-loaded touring on it later this year), but it comparatively rides like a dog. It was creaking all the way round and started clanking alarmingly towards the end.

Was enviously eyeing-up the Cube yesterday (in not quite the same way that a certain nameless someone was eyeing up a certain nameless someone in a certain nameless tearoom in Machrie Bay ), although it would mean changing my name to match the frame decals...

*Edit: A quick inspection has revealed that the clanking is coming from the freewheel. On a bike that has done 476 miles.

sign up for Perthshire sportive at end of august that a few of us are doing. gives you a few months. and you werent as slow as you are making out, a few weeks of riding and you will be closer than you think to where you want to be

went out for a quick leg stretcher that turned into 32 miles. bit chilly, but felt good.
