I've just noticed that there is a Cowes to Newport cycleway, a google image search shows it is tarmac, so would people prefer to use this rather than the main road from Cowes to Newport? The road will be faster, the cycleway will be devoid of cars, but may contain pedestrians and dogs etc..

I expect the cycleway will be more scenic as is runs along the side of the river Medina
If it's up for a vote the cycleway might be nice so I'd go for that. Like you say, might be more scenic and we won't be balls out fast so dogs and walkers should be fine

Tommy no invite but I found a Thomas Button and sent an invite

Tommy you pay to download the offline maps so they are on your device or phone. -I don't think that is available in the free option?

Yep, no where to hide along that road, last time I did it into 25mph gusts and driving rain :boxing:
On a positive note, the forecast is sun and a tail wind for Military Road :sun::bicycle:

What do you mean by offline maps Bob? From 3rd party sites like strava?

The club thing costs $250 but you can create a group for free. I've created one called "Club Cyclechat". (I'm a bit bored...) I'm thinking it might be useful in the future either for next summers adventures or just longer routes that others in the group might like.

User error but although element paid with iPhone as usual I cannot get the files into the ELEMNT- may try via pc
Have you linked the Wahoo Elemnt to the Strava and RideWithGPS accounts, you do it on the phone app on the profile page? Also set up the Wahoo Elemnt with access to your WiFi and then on the device you just need to sync, no need to use the phone to sync.

I don't have a ridewithgps account (or a Wahoo Elemnt yet ) and when I click on TT's links above I just get "THE ROUTE YOU ARE TRYING TO VIEW IS NOT PUBLIC"

Not to worry though, I have used Kipsters Strava routes and uploaded them onto www.plotaroute.com and transferred to my old Garmin from there as I usually do. If anyone wants a link to the plotaroute versions let me know and I'll post them up

Yep- done all that but files just won't transfer over. I wonder if it's because I once paid for rwgps. May delete and reinstall.
