Nephilim or The Sisters are my all time faves but I have been listening to a lot of MCR and Dashboard Confessional et al lately.

MMm do you think fields of the nephilim if playing these days would cover themselves in wholemeal flour as opposed to the plain stuff they used to - given the emphasis on health etc?

Think Echo and the Bunnymen were my first love, (who probably count as new wave, but had their goth moments) and then got into Bauhaus just before they split up.

Was lucky enough to see Pete Murphy (cheekbones to die for ) on his first solo tour where Daniel Ash popped up and did a couple of Bauhaus numbers.

Sisters of Mercy, the Cult, the Mission and Skeletal Family were also splendid  Am not really sure where the Cure sat in it all - think they were the pop end of goth...but I liked them anyway.

MCR are a band that make me wish that I was 17 again. I would have loved them so much. I'm not keen on most of the rest of the current emo contingent. 30 Seconds to Mars seem too...expensive and Fall Out Boy have that incredibly annoying Bare Naked Ladies 'too many smart words per line' thing going on. As for Panic! At the Disco.....xx(xx(

My youngest daughter (13 1/2) is in full emo mode currently, so MCR, P!ATD, FOB, and many others are constantly assaulting my ears and I have to say I'm enjoying it all. Dad's aren't supposed to like their kids music, but it helps.
There are far worst musics and "styles" to be into than emo/goth IMO.
