In my experience plumbers never seem to tighten anything up properly

I’m a mechanical Engineer by trade. So have a conception of tight / overtight etc. Fittings are all original and 20 years old. I have no idea if the screw fittings are parallel or tapered: but many weren’t much more than finger tight. Again - I have no idea if they should / do have PTFE tape on the joints etc - I just know I had a leak and attempted the simplest remedy first……..

I scan my own cars and then the them to the dealer for repair. They hate that.

I do too, and do the basic repairs. Most folk don't have a scanner, our friend doesn't and it would have cost her hundreds the amount of times I've scanned her car for different faults

Yes; the scanner is useful for modern cars, particularly French cars, in particular Renault which often have a main ECU and then smaller control units in the circuit for battery, starter motor etc which then connect to sensors!

I've got a manufacturer service agent coming next week to do a repair. I believe is still under warranty, they don't. I had to pay £223 up front to arrange a callout and an hours diagnosis time.

Take your car for a diagnostic scan from a garage, £50 minimum around here

Don't stand for any nonsense about it being 'out of warranty'. Many years ago we had a fault with a washing machine - it would sometimes complete the cycle, sometimes not. About 6 weeks left on the warranty. Forward 7 weeks and it stopped again. It hadn't finished the cycle, and wouldn't pump out. I wondered if there was a blockage in the outlet and took the back off the machine........ there was clearly no blockage, but the rear of the motor was severely corroded and it had clearly been leaking for a long while. We phoned and reported the issue they saw a few weeks ago was still there. When he arrived the service agent presented my wife with a £300+ invoice, explaining it 'probably' wouldn't be under warranty. I returned home a few minutes after his arrival and he started to argue his case. I said, "Just remove the back cover and then tell me if there has been a leak for some time". he took it off, reluctantly agreed, and fixed it under warranty (new bearing and rear seal). A year later the bearing was caput again. We got a local guy to do it and when he took the new one out of the packet he exclaimed "crikey, that's as bad as the old one" and went to base to get another. Clearly the bearings for the Ariston machine weren't great

Now the toilet is done i have finally got around to painting the outer walls in the lounger/diner so that means a whole room colour change .
Note to self decorating up a ladder after a long bike ride on little food may cause stars in front of your eyes so now i am chilling with coffee and choccie

Trimming carpet and fitting aluminium edging/nosing around the loft hatch bedroom floor.
Trickier than it sounds. Have to profile the aluminium to fit over/around the ladder bracket.

Daughter asked me to measure up a rain protector for the garage door they have. I opted to fit a brush system.

In the meantime she got me to fit a folding blind in the bathroom

Printed a test boss spacer for our new oil tank level monitor.

It fits perfectly with the sensor, just need to offer it up on the tank
