Skirting boards for the loft conversion.
Ive had the mdf skirting board for a while, stored in our terraced house tunnel. Finally get a day to do the work.
My mitre box is just to small. Try all the usual screwfix/toolstation but find a wide mitre bix at my local ironmongery Thornes. Just when I get to grips with the 45degree cut, it starts to rain, just spitting enough to be wet. I had to put all the bits undercovef again. At least I got then painted and dried in time.

Dripping / Leak found under the kitchen sink - inside the cupboard. I got an adjustable spanner and tightened some ‘things’ 😁 The leak appears to have stopped. In my head I’m now a plumber 😉

Saved yourself a callout charge of £75-150. So yes you are a plumber.:okay:

I used to do some minor jobs as a young lad, then just let erm professionals do it till much later in life. I was then pretty much forced to do a whole newbuild plumbing and bathroom fit out due to covid and plumber ditching me. Really enjoyed it after learning again copper bending and soldering skills. Fitted out 5 bathroom suites now and other remedials.

Take your time and do a far better job than a pro and have detailed knowledge of your own plumbing setup

Not my own time, but me and Mrs D popped in to visit the lady next door andnI ended up fitting a water filter for her.

She mentioned that she'd bought it and was going to book a plumber. I looked at the filter, looked at her plumbing (oooer matron!), declared it to be an easy job, nipped home to get a hammer, and 15 minutes later it was fitted.

She popped round yesterday to give me flowers to say thanks you, the first time a chick has ever bought me flowers jnstead of the other way around.

Keep an eye on it - From my experience as a plumber, it's often the following:- Pipe (s) have been cut too short and the rubber taper washer is right on the end of the pipe and prone to move - people can easily knock the pipes if taking something from the cupboard as well. The other issue is waste pipes supplied with the sink, as they are rarely good quality (can't beat Mc Alpine) - a clue to their origins is they are often grey/silver rather than white. I've also been to many homes where people have had a sink blockage and instead of using a plunger (it always works if used correctly) they poke 'wiggly worm' wonder tools sold by mail order down the trap. This causes even more blockage..... or the other 'fix' of removing various pipes to 'clear them' and ending up with leaks. Sometimes it's better to get someone with knowledge/experience/tools, and BTW if you are paying £75 for someone to come out you need to find another plumber. I retired last August

I've got a manufacturer service agent coming next week to do a repair. I believe is still under warranty, they don't. I had to pay £223 up front to arrange a callout and an hours diagnosis time.

Take your car for a diagnostic scan from a garage, £50 minimum around here
