Power went off at 10.30, when wind was at 40mph, gusting to 60mph. My weather station is offline without power but it is a lot windier now! I would guess easily gusting to 70mph. The worst, or at least the most sustained storm here for some years. We're just lucky we have some protection from these southerly winds whereas to our west are two miles of open Suffolk prairie. Every now and then, the house shudders and creaks as a gust slams in, which is quite scary.

Dogs walked in pouring rain and howling wind, got back rain stopped and now the suns out. A few trees and branches down and lots of water. Wheelie bins still upright though.

Doors blowing open INSIDE the house, despite all exterior doors and windows being closed! Mastic lifted round front door and rain penetrating. Flood sirens sounded hours ago. Looks like Calder Valley is flooding AGAIN but I am not going to go out to check! If things settle down enough later I will nip out to the local corner shop for milk. Mind you, they are in the flood zone so they may be shut. This house is showing as being 3 metres from the area likely to flood but within the 'at risk' area!

Reports of flooding at Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd coming in from folk that live out that way. A friend's son has just moved into one of the new houses by the river in Sowerby, so I hope he's ok.
Flood warning also above Ilkley, and even worse, the telly signal has dropped out up there and I have reports that people are having to talk to each other.

Things have quietened down a lot here in the last couple of hours, although it's still wet and blowy. Not quite the forecast apocalypse here fortunately.

In local news had to reattach part of a reed screen fence and a ufo has landed on my front lawn - might be a dustbin lid but hang on everyone has wheelie bins so I am suspicious.

Been out in it for a walk. Strong winds not too gusty and a long way from blowing you off course. Rain eased up for now.

Blue sky here now.. wind has been light for 2 hours but picking up again now. Next 40mph supposed to be coming in shortly.

Rain has gone now sunny, bird song and the odd rainbow still windy but less so. Finally made it out called in to local tesco watched a couple some what a miss. she partially look down on the common biscuit selection it has to offer.
Think it was 1st time having to slum it with the rest clearly not been able to get waitrose.
Came back via local park no tree's down
