Watching tv drama, female cop is asked during a press conference.....
'have you got a message for the public ?'...
Before the cop had a chance to answer, for some ungodly reason I said...
'Go have a poo, everything will be ok' :giggle:

The wife looked at me....:headshake:

I worry about myself sometimes, rubbish just blurts out ...its like having tourettes ^_^. During a convo at work once i said something equally random...my colleague guffawed and said...
'what the hells going on in your head ?'
I said...
'i dunno, but i like it in there '

"Susie, why were all those people protesting in Paris this week?"
"Awe dinni ken?", Susie replies with a shrug of the shoulders.

It wouldn't be appropriate to give the details of the conversation, but I have just found out that my oldest friend died suddenly last week. We had been pals for 50 years.

I saw him just a couple of days before Christmas and he was looking well, and looking forward to retiring in a few years time.

It is a reminder to get out there and do what you want to do now, because there may not be a 'later' ...

RIP old friend.

 :hugs:

It was 2 such deaths, plus a 3rd not unexpected death inside 2 months that lead to our decision to sell everything and set off to try to cycle around the world. Best decision we ever made.

 Sorry to hear that, @ColinJ :hugs:

Good that you saw him recently - and that at least he went quickly without a long drawn out passing.

Difficult to say it clearly but I'm sure you get the meaning.

I think I can work out what happened, but there is going to be a post-mortem examination done to confirm the cause of death. I would rather not press for more information now because the only person I could talk to about it is very vulnerable (special needs).

I was thinking that the flu bug might have been to blame, given that my friend had a compromised immune system due to the medication that he had to take, but it sounds like it was due to a different, long-standing health issue.

Having just completed a strip down and re-erection of several bays of drive in racking like this...
7_456-drive-in-racking-system.jpg

a day and a half of something we'd never done before. W'd just finished tidying up our tools, equipment, scissor lift etc...i said to my colleague...
' I thoroughly enjoyed that'
he laughed , he was literally just going to say the same, word for word.
Manager came In, surveyed the now erected racking and said...
'Colins the one with the ticket..on his head be it if it comes down' ^_^
hmmm, you look back at it and hope youve tightened every single bolt, despite knowing you did..and double checked that you did.

Neighbour "do you want some shopping I am going to Skeg".
Me "Yes please which supermarket are you going to"
Neighbour "Aldi, right me a list"
I write list and hand it to her and she promptly goes through if with me.
Neighbour "what's this? underparts German paratrooper's"
Me "Their German (Aldi), they stock them, don't look for them in the cages just ask a member of staff. Get me a pack of 3"
Her "are you sure"
Me "positive"
Her "Are they boxer's or Y fronts?"
Me "a bit like boxer's"
Calls round with shopping at 7pm.
Me "did you get me the German paratroopers underpants"
Her "no they don't stock them"
Me "did you ask a member of staff"
Her "yes no stock"

Now I am not sure who is taking the pi** out of who?

We have a new Health and Safety manager, nice chap, amiable, approachable....but he's naturally H&S focused.
I went up to the offices to replace some fluorescent lamps, four girls are sat there, happy they wont have to endure a flickering lamp any more...
Me....waving a tube as I approach...
'You're not gonna to give me a hard time are you?...I'm only on light duties' ;)...which raised some laughter, surprisingly...theyre either bored or easily pleased.
So, step ladder up....i start to climb...
'want me to turn the lights off'...asked one of the girls
'no, its fine'.....and i got to the top of the steps.

And here come Mr H&S .....
'Hi Colin...you doing lights ?'
'Yep, just a couple'
...'you got a bigger set of steps..they look a bit small'
'we'll soon find out, i think theyre ok'....i replied..and they were.
..'you going to turn the lights off ?'
'no Its fine, im not touching the fitting itself, just the glass tubes'
.....
 'dont suppose youve done a risk assessment ?'
'No...i havnt done a single one In the three years ive been here...no-one has ever requested we do any at all'
'Oh........'
'To be fair, i suspect things will change, whatever systems the company will wish upon us, we will comply of course....we simply work according to what was required previously'

After hed gone, i sensed the girls had been enjoying the conversation...
'H&S eh ?...i suspect things are going to change...'...'if i do this next week, it'll be three men, scaffollding, four pieces of paperwork, a half hour risk assessment, full body armour, clean underpants and ...lights off...just to play safe '
I think It was the highlight of the day for the girls in the office.....

I doubt it. a simple 4 lines will do it. and turning off the light at the switch will be fine. it is one of the few " non isolations" operations we permit in work. if you need the RA thenm I can send you a good template with most filled in already
