There are plenty of direct trains to York, some go via Doncaster, others don't.

As nobody else seems interested in cycling up I think I'll just get northern rail up on the day without a reservation.

I must be doing something wrong as on NRE as I can only see trains from Cleethorpes changing at Donnie to York?

I've not ruled out cycling back, but I'll see how I feel on the day.

I don't think there are two legs to the journey, thetrainline doesn't indicate any changes. I haven't got round to booking them yet, but I haven't booked bike spaces for any of the time I've travelled (on trains) to races this year and it hasn't been a problem, there's space for 5 or 6 bikes in the rear carriage of most of the trains.

I don't usually have a problem, but as it's York bike show, things might be more of an issue on the Sat. I'm prob being pessimistic...

ahh wires crossed, were you going to train back to York then head south on the Saturday? I can get a direct train from Cleethorpes to Sheffield... although if the sun is out I'll be heading towards somewhere like Gainsborough (sounds like a nice place) and then on to Sheffield after that.

on a seperate note

Andy, yes, that was my plan. My train back to London is not 'till 8pm on Sat.

Plenty of pubs in York, I used to like the Lowther.

Yes. Arch stabbed Marin with the pickled onion fork and is now on the run...

That's not fair, Arch is faster than me on the flat.

I suspect the Sutton Bridge will be fine, when similar bridges in the area have had major work or even that one has fixed there has been some way of getting across.

Apologies if I have missed it, but how are people who are returning to York planning to get back there?

I'm cycling up from Sheffield Friday morning. Setting off at about 9:30 ish.

Quite a few are intending to get the train back- I've got a ticket booked to Scarborough ('change' at York) which worked out cheaper. As to how many are riding it, pass...

As I have cocked right royally up by booking a train that leaves Kings X at 9:00, I would much appreciate the occasional text to keep me up to date with things.
If that's the 9pm train, then I'll see you there........

Hi Simon. I will need to be removed from the list.

With MacB's uncertainty (my planned lift) and the now ridiculous cost of train tickets, I will be spending the evening watching the football instead

As much as I like football, it doesn't have quite the same appeal.

See you all on next weeks one.
