sadly, my very much better half will not be joining us. While we complain by tide of Humber she will be swigging Marvellous champers on the flight back from New York. Which is my excuse to post her BAFTA red carpet pic..

Nice pic! Is it uncool of me not to have the slightest clue who the geezer is?

not at all uncool - he's a writer at the Cosmodemonic Telly Company. And one of the best dancers I've ever met

Should I call to mind the famous Dad Dancing video when I weigh up this assessment?

what sort of time will people be in York then?

I arrive Thursday evening (barring mechanicals™), so on Friday I'll be loafing around, carb-loading, trying not to drink much booze, and waiting for any news on top places to watch the game. I suggest we ping a few mobile numbers around by PM...

TC and Andy, I'm visiting friends in York Friday morning and again in evening, but a few of us CCers should meet up for lunch and mooch around York in the afternoon?

If anyone wants my mobile no send me a pm (don't all email at once though;)).

Dell, the babe looks fantastic...

I'll be getting into York just before four, but then I will be heading north west to my mates' place (in Tollerton, 10 miles or so out). What the plans are for the evening, pass. I'll ring at the weekend... Though my efforts to persuade the cycling husband that he wants to abandon his usual solo riding (he was a club member but hated the one-umpmanship etc) for the delights of a run to Cleethorpes have sadly been in vain.

YHPM. I apologise in advance for my part in the likely CycleChat site crash that will inevitably result from the mad PM rush to get Origamist's number.

When I realized the very fabric of the www was under threat, I preemptively emptied my inbox and a catastrophe was narrowly averted...

Andy, have you booked in advance, via Doncaster? Did you have to book a bike space on the second leg (Donnie to York)?

I don't think there are two legs to the journey, thetrainline doesn't indicate any changes. I haven't got round to booking them yet, but I haven't booked bike spaces for any of the time I've travelled (on trains) to races this year and it hasn't been a problem, there's space for 5 or 6 bikes in the rear carriage of most of the trains.

There are plenty of direct trains to York, some go via Doncaster, others don't.

As nobody else seems interested in cycling up I think I'll just get northern rail up on the day without a reservation.

I managed to get a reservation from Cleethorpes to Donc but for Donc to York was told you couldn't reserve a space but there would be plenty of them. For the sake of peace of mind I'm going to believe them.
