The PCWorld manager was in the right. The system is designed to lure customers off the Internet, not to provide every walk in customer with web prices.

When I bought a router from pc world last year I was able to reserve online at the web price and collect on-store.

Which is just how it's supposed to work.

It was not possible to reserve the item for collection in store. Had the store manager matched their web price, offered by his same company, then PCWorld would have had the benefit of an extra £43 of my money and wouldn't have had to pay DHL or City Link carriage costs for the item to be delivered to me as it was free delivery, all of which I hasten to add I put to this smart alec dimwit. Now whose right? One wouldn't last very long in business if one continually adopted that strategy. In business if you have a client/customer with cash burning a hole in their pocket for your product or service you should bite their hand off to get it. This guy was just a d1ck. At the end of the day I'm laughing as I got over £80 off a dedicated scanner which is a good one and which is currently sitting right next to me.

Btw the sales girl who actually served me was quite embarrassed as she found the scanner on their website said they had several in stock so didn't see it would be a problem. She was quite cute as well. She couldn't convince him either. Her verdict - he was a tool. On that we agreed and had a moment of bonding. Then I went home to buy it on-line and to save a futher £43. Happy days.

I think you over estimate the amount of autonomy a PC World manager has - he will work inside a framework of rules. And that's what he did.

I just happened to come across this seemingly tidy Campag/ITM kitted 653 Bob Jackson for £275... Sigh... If only I had more room (or reasons) for buying more bikes... I am trying very hard to convince myself it is a tad too small for my size.

I hope I am not breaking any rule for posting it here. I have nothing to do with the seller, it would be nice if someone else on the forum is not too far, needs one and finds it of benefit.

Nice and only 5 minutes away. Don't think it would go down too well it I bought it though. And I am 6' 2" so probably too small for me as well.

Anyone looking for a helmet camera: Aldi have some Action Cams in, £49.99 - ask at the till, cos they (or they do at least in Manchester Arndale, ame with the bike computers) keep them in the stock room and get them when a customer asks for one - just bought one today. They've also got 44 litre dry bags at £6.99 each.

Our Aldi (Selly Oak) was selling them for £20 last week.

Damn! £30 price difference, shame I don't live there!

I bought a tent a while ago from Argos cos it was reduced to around half price or less at approx £17. said on the website that it would be full price after a certain date, so I bought it quick. Instead of going back to full price, it went down by a further £2! Not a lot, but still, it's false advertising!

Tried this tactic with PC World when I wanted a scanner. The manager of my local PCWorld was a smart ar$se git who refused to match their own web price even though his store had the scanner in stock which we sere standing next to and I had cash burning a hole in my pocket. What a w4nker! Anyway I had the last laugh as inspected the scanner in store, went home and visited PCWorld website. Yep scanner was still there at a saving of £43 compared to the price in their stores. I then did a search for discount codes. Inputted one and gained another 10% off. So I got the scanner with a total discount of £86 plus free delivery!! Bargain. Thanks PCWorld and to the idiot of a manager at PCWorld who lost his company £43. Happy days.

Except you still bought it from PC World, unless I misunderstand you, so he didn't lose his company money at all.

Tesco cycle accessories 3 for the price of 2. Get the cheapest free.

What are their inner tubes like ? 3 for £10 seems a good deal to me.

Very nearly bought that myself!

I don't know why i'm attracted to SS/Fixed wheel bikes. I NEED one with gears on.

Yes, well as I've just discovered SS mtb is bloody hard work off road! And I'm used to riding fixed with a much bigger gear.

Might have to get a suss fork for it or stick to smooth singletrack - my hands and wrists didn't enjoy a brief rocky descent.

Looks like the 19" is gone too now - good thing I got mine when I did. Cheers for that.*

*Grrrr.
