Yes, well as I've just discovered SS mtb is bloody hard work off road! And I'm used to riding fixed with a much bigger gear.

Might have to get a suss fork for it or stick to smooth singletrack - my hands and wrists didn't enjoy a brief rocky descent.

Looks like the 19" is gone too now - good thing I got mine when I did. Cheers for that.*

*Grrrr.

Lol. Single speeding off-road has killed my knees (ie the need for a geared bike). I wont be getting rid of the single speed but I wont be attempting any more horrendously hilly all day epics on it.

The rigid carbon forks on the 29er are remarkably comfortable. A large 2.4" 29er tyre seems to go a long way towards compensating for the lack for front suspension.

I was in Tredz yesterday picking up some stuff, and at the till I asked if their website prices were the same... and got an instant 10% discount to match the web prices - might be worth remembering.

On a related note - Anyone mail ordered recently from Tredz?. I ordered a pair of gloves last week and got an email on Monday saying it had been dispatched but they haven't turned up yet. How long do they take usually?. Anything I have ordered recently from CRC or Wiggle is almost always here the next day.

Warning duly noted.

On-One and Planet X clothing half price on their site.

Yep, I ordered two S/S shirts yesterday with the view of seeing what they're like with the option of posting back if not happy. Delivered today, I'm keeping them, very tidy at that price.

I can vouch for the Planet X clothing too, I got a L/S jersey and a lovely green On One merino jersey last time they did a half price deal.

Not sure if anyone's posted this yet, but the online store Rock and Rescue does Ortlieb Back Roller Classic panniers for £75 (they're normally around £99). They also offer free delivery in mainland UK for orders over £75. And you can save further 10% with the code PROMO10.

I was vexed to discover t'other day that PBK are no longer doing their Tacx Tao cage + bottle for £5. Anyone know of any particularly impressive bottle cage bargains? Might end up getting some more ebay carbon ones but I think I'd prefer the Taos for the mtbs...

I bought a couple BBB cages (£3.50 each) and Conti 700ml Bottles (£2.50 each) the other day from Parker Int. The cages seem well built and the bottles have a screw on lid.

Cheers. Although actually I'm not a huge fan of that style as cage as they aren't as secure in my experience which is an issue for mtbs. Actually, I've just noticed BBB do this which might help with the tiny frame issue on the new Genesis:
