That Kona Smoke has 26" tyres according to their ad?

very good point, I made an assumption it was the 2-9 version.

Still a bargain though

I can get the 2-9 version at Wiggle for £270, which isn't bad either, certainly should be a frame that will last, so worth replacing the bits as they wear out. Very long wheelbase as well, so shouldn't be issues with toe overlap or heelstrike on panniers.

so this morning i discover that a tiny piece of plastic has come of one of my cateyes meaning it won't clip into the mount, no worries i think and opt for the other cateye instead- bombing down through crookes towards hillsborough on a road auditioning for the paris roubaix and 2nd cateye flies of the handlbars and is promptly destroyed by the following cars and lorries *buggar* is this a sign that i should buy a hope vision 1 on the last day of the ribble sale? please say yes

Yes! The mount is more secure. You know it makes sense;).

I have a Hope and paid a whopping 80 quid for it last year. Its pretty bulky but has a great light, good clamp and has not let me down yet even on the wettest Friday Night Ride in November. So yes is my answer !

Cheap SRAM DualDrive hub?

Anyone who is thinking of converting a bike to DualDrive, or needs spares could do a lot worse than snap up one of these from Decathlon:

http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/triban-road-5-34962561/

End of line, so reduced to £150.

Perhaps not a great bike, but the cheapest DualDrive hub I have seen is £180, and that's hub only - you still need all the extra bits like the clickbox, cassette, nuts and washers, cables and shifters. You get all that if you buy one of these bikes and the added bonus is that you get two Schwalbe Marathon Kojaks and lots of shiny new but rubbish spare parts to go in that box in your shed. Oh, and a frame. Not sure what you would do with that.

The hub is the disc mount version, shifter is 8 speed, but the hub cassette will take a 9 speed. Hub is in a 26 inch rim which appears to be eyeletted.
