I have no doubt they are holding up after that mileage but I am also in no doubt that they look cheap and nasty in a £50k (?) car.
Maybe Tesla need to produce a better looking faux-leather seating material?
I know you love Tesla cars but, objectively, the money has gone into, admittedly good, tech' and not into a quality looking and feeling car imo. They don't do anything for me at all.
Certainly not a patch on the 5 Series and E Class cars from the past that I have 'owned' (company cars).
Yeah Tesla isn't going to be as good as those Germans for sure but it does seem good enough. The faux leather in mercedes makes one wonder why spend extra on real leather but the seats in a Tesla are surprisingly ok. However the seats could use a bit more under thigh support. The material of the seats appears like they can be wiped down well.
With Tesla, much of the luxury feeling comes from the amount of space and light that is in the cabin. Space itself is a luxury and Tesla has that in bucket loads. Other cars have to compensate in other ways (better materials, more equipment, brand prestige etc).
I feel Merc has a more comfortable ride quality on motorways despite it having stiff run flat tyres so it shows they done a lot of work on the suspension. But I also feel Tesla is good enough and it offers so many intangible benefits (space, rapid chargers that are always available and always work, a proper panoramic roof) and a starting price of £43k seems pretty reasonable.
But then one sits in a VW ID5 (for example) it has really impressive cabin quality, lots of lights and changing colours and big alloys, all stuff that people instantly like and can touch and feel).
I don't think Tesla is just a computer on wheels, it is more than that. There are still some glitches which means you have reset the screen but on the whole it's great.
