I have extended my continental sojourn thanks to a visit from Mlle Covid, hopefully giving this madness time to subside.

However, I've worked out that my hybrid will get me home by the power of electrons alone. It takes 25 minutes to get a charge that lasts 15 minutes on the road. Can one of the clever counters tell me how long a journey that should take 8 hrs will actually take now?
There are 32 periods of 15 minute driving in an eight hour trip. If you start with a full charge, you will need to do 31 charges during the trip, each of which takes 25 minutes.

Driving: (32x15) minutes= 480 minutes

Charging: (31x25) minutes=775 minutes

Total: (480+775) minutes=1255 minutes

In other words 20 hours 55 minutes

I may be wrong.

Well, day 7 of the fuel panic buying crisis. The media tellmus things are easing out there. Are you good folk seeing any evidence of this?

Our local rag is a proper purveyor of negativity, even making stuff up to suit their agenda of misery, and in their article on the 'crisis' where they list the main filling stations, even they couldn't manage to find one that was closed or one with notable queues. They'll be gutted.

Drove to work today so nipped down to Tesco to see if I could get some petrol, all empty with the 'No Fuel' signs up...
Ah well, will try again in a few days

Was out and about in the car yesterday, up to the big smoke of Glasgow. All seemed back to normal. Prices haven't gone up locally either. Much ado about nothing, then? Or are us Scots just a bit less prone to being suckered into the mass hysteria and panic type stuff?

It does seem to have a London, or at least wanabe Metropolitan focus. Maybe they're the only ones left that follow the media guff?

Coming back from the park yesterday evening, I passed the local Tesco Superstore/ Filling station. The first 30 metres or so of the road into the extensive car park is also the route into the filling station. This is just off a major traffic light controlled roundabout, access to Tesco is controlled by it’s own set of traffic lights. It did look a tad snarled up at about 7:30pm.

Certainly it seems to have more effect in those areas. I can't see the good people of rural Yorkshire rushing off to queue for hours to get petrol and ending up in a boxing match on t'forecourt. Too laid back for all that carry on!
I find myself looking at the news reports and saying "eff that, I'm staying away until things improve". Others obviously see it as "right, must get petrol NOW before things get worse"!

Laid back, or maybe the stereotypes about jocks and tykes being 'frugal' come in to play with the prices as they are?
