The bin "service" is the only portion of my council tax that I actually use. Been burgled twice, Police were useless. Never had a fire but I know I contribute to firemen putting car fires out and practising pool and driving their engines around the city centre on sunny days "bird" watching and then I pay their pension after just 25 years "work".

I've totted it all up and that's..........£170 to get my bin emptied.

I have a solution to all of your problems!

Move to Switzerland a la Phil ****ing Collins.

Sorted

Pay as you go, firefighters then?
Firefighters ? Oh I see. Come to think of it I did see a girl collecting money at a fire station as the firemen were washing cars for charity instead of manning the station. I assumed she would have been the cleaner or cook but she did have a uniform but she did look very large and a bit small and a bit unfit. Surely she wasn't a fireman.

They take it in turns to be cook and driver. I used to go to see a mate at a local fire station and have a few pints in the private bar, but the driver couldnt have any that shift.

I read that although I don't understand it fully. I'm a bit unconventional, maybe politically incorrect and not lefty enough but to try and pigeon hole me as a Troll just because my opinions and outlook don't fit into the mainstream or norm is a bit below the belt and poor form.

It resides full time exactly where it is...at the end of the drive.

I guess that it's lucky the roads are all paid for out of road tax rather than part of the council tax going to local Highways departments.

Oh... wait a minute...
May be the lad emptying the bins is a keen cyclist and took exception when he noticed the Audi Q7 shoot-liner that you have just got off santa.
That's a point I already made and it's possibly why he didn't take it - Council worker envy. Maybe if I had pressed the remote to open the door of my double garage and he'd seen my Trek Madone he might have emptied my bin. Or if he has that jealous mindset, he might have kicked my bin over on the driveway.
