Stick with it Bluenite. Yes, it can be blooming hard at times but all you have to do is "serve your sentence". It's just a matter of putting in the days. Do that and you will emerge a free person.

Very best wishes.

Not so much a role model, more of a roll-up model^_^

Keep at it you lot. It's worth it and once you get through the hard bit it's hard not to feel smug and proud that you're still resisting.

FWIW, I would never want to smoke again and it's my 30th anniversary this July although I occasiuonally have the tendency to stand too near bonfires.

in reply to Ianruk 3 years and some weeks. not sure of exact date but could work it out from calendar.

and with 37p on a pack i am sooooo glad i gave up when i did. i had a look last night when i went to the shop for milk at how much they were- £7.10 for 20 cigs, thats horrendously expensive. i dunno how i afforded them - i think it was about £6 a pack when i stopped

37 pence on a packet of smokes:eek:. Glad i'm quiting.
Joined the NHS quit smoking scheme in Birmingham today (have you seen the price of patches) . It's the one that takes place in Boots, free patches, gums or tabs.
I figured i might as well get all the free help while i can. I have a feeling that the Stop Smoking schemes will stop getting funded by the government
as there excuse is that they are pricing cigarettes out of peoples price range.

Keep at it, it does get easier and you will think about it less and less.

But its not easy so grab all the help you can. Have you tried the mouth squirter thing?

37p on a pack of smokes is disgusting, having said that it does not affect me now, ha ha ha :angel:

In simple terms, i guess the addictive effect of nicotine is still lingering in there somewhere, just rearing its head occasionally...its the same for me.
Also there's the simple habit of smoking....it did form a significant part of your day, i still feel slightly odd when i chat with anyone at the smoking shed...like i should light one up, but i'm not going to of course.

Pushing 3 months for me now (ive stopped looking and counting)...but i still occasionally think 'ooh, one would be nice'.

No idea as to why, just in my head for some reason.

i believe 99% of the nicotine has left your body after 3 weeks....dont know where the other 1 % lingers and how long that takes to go though:smile:

Only asked "why" because i sometimes get the same thought......i also believe its cos we did the habit for so long, it is the associations.....seeing others smoke......seeing the odd empty packet lying on the floor......all these and more sometime trigger/pose the question in my mind...which i suppose is what makes us human.....we question everything........i dont think its the physical its the mental 1% that we all struggle with at times.......like you i have no intention of going back........i rarely even think once let alone twice about a fag these days....its soooo good to be free i can concentrate on my cycling, fishing etc.....just wish i could get off these mints now:crazy:

we should all give ourselves a metaphorical pat on the back :hugs:

It is a strange feeling, i dont "want" or "need" a smoke or the nicotine, and for 99% of the time i dont even think about having a smoke.

I think (as you say) its just the habit popping into the mind.

As for a pat on the back, i agree, we deserve it:becool:
