It is about 30 years since I gave up tobacco smoking, but I 'did inhale' other pollutants on the odd party occasion until about 10 years ago. The funny thing was that I didn't count that as 'smoking' and it never led me back onto cigarettes.

I'm sure that a big percentage of the addiction of smoking is psychological. I went cold turkey after 5 years of smoking 20-plus a day and because I told myself that I wasn't a smoker, I hardly ever felt any craving, not even in the first few days without the ciggies. I'd always considered myself as a non-smoker who was playing at smoking, so then I'd merely become a non-smoker who had stopped playing at smoking!

I agree with that, wouldn't have at the start of the year and thought about things far too much, but (so far) with the exception of the 1st week i haven't needed nrt.

Its all in the mind.

Even at over two months, you have to be vigilant, or at least remain as determined as you were.
Ive got that heavy feeling in my chest, like i need a cig. The wife lit one up earlier on...in my head, i thought 'ooh ' as she took one out of the packet...then instantly realised i couldn't.

Day to day, its easy now...funny how those little cravings still meander into your conciousness.

Every now and then the thought pops up of "just going for a smoke". I am not going to but its strange as they do seem to come out of nowhere.

37 pence on a packet of smokes:eek:. Glad i'm quiting.
Joined the NHS quit smoking scheme in Birmingham today (have you seen the price of patches) . It's the one that takes place in Boots, free patches, gums or tabs.
I figured i might as well get all the free help while i can. I have a feeling that the Stop Smoking schemes will stop getting funded by the government
as there excuse is that they are pricing cigarettes out of peoples price range.
