I’m a big test cricket fan, nothing else has the drama and intrigue. But, I am also embarrassed to say I have the hundred! It’s just different, with full stadiums, great for the women’s game, and the sort of thing ai might sit down and watch on the tv. ODIs are good to watch live but I can’t really get into them. 20 overs is ok for an evening out but I’d not travel far to watch a single match.

I suppose the good aspects of The Hundred outweigh some of the bad, but how do you go from that to explaining a Test match? Good luck to anyone trying that one!

Yes, they are very different and you probably won’t get much crossover.

I think the twists and turns of a test match keep you unsure of the result until deep in the game, especially the way it has been played recently. In the very short forms one brilliant over can transform a match so you also have to wait for an outcome, whereas the ODI format is often a forgone conclusion long before the end. That said, this current match could be a cracker…

Yeah that's a fair point about the result being obvious in an ODI.

New Zealand aren't hanging about with their run chase so far!

Slightly off track Andy.

And what is this for the less attended T50.
'It’s not just on the screen where fans have been watching in their droves. 542,000 people had attended matches by the midpoint of the tournament, which is a 190,000 audience increase compared to the previous ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2019.'

Slightly off track Andy? Might it just be that a 132,000 stadium can easiiy easily look empty?

Good start, keeping the score down and taking wickets. Expect they'll put the hammer down shortly, Rohit could be key.

Restricting them to 229 is impressive stuff. I don't think anyone would be particularly confident chasing what looks a low score, but it's India, and worse, England.

Australia, Pakistan and Holland to come too. Great.

And we can't come home either, because the top 8 of this WC automatically qualify for the Champions Trophy, which looks unlikely.

Still, it's fine, we'll be world champions at The Hundred, which nobody else wants to play so it's just as well we sacrificed our ODI side for it.

Grim stats:

England's last four innings have ended in scores of 215, 170, 156 and 129. Against Sri Lanka, they went from 45-0to 156 all out. Today, it is 30-0 to 129.

It is the first time they have lost five matches in a World Cup.
