what did i tell ya!

4 down now

And a fifth!

Not looking good for them, which is pleasing. Less so is that we've still to play them. Hopefully they'll get food poisoning this week.

Yes having already lost to NZ, With Sa and India looking strong, we probably cant afford to slip up against PAK SRI AUS etc. as that would leave us probably having to beat IND or SA to make the semi's.
Losing 3, winning 6 will probably get you into the semi's, lose 4 and it may well get onto run rate calculations

Can't see us beating either South Africa or India. Miles ahead of everyone else from what I've seen. And the Dutch taking 7 off New Zealand really shows how awful we were. We're in big trouble!

we were awful vs NZ. Im not sure we've become a poor team. I expect us to make the Semi's. I'm not sure about Woakes in these conditions though. Spin or proper pace seems to be the better options. Topley looked good when he came in. When Moeen comes back in Woakes should give way.

I don't really understand what Aussie are doing here either Labus & Starc have just been patting it around at 4 an over for what - protecting net run rate I guess.

Interesting wee chat on the wireless about how Bangladesh built a lot of momentum coming into the WC and have fallen apart a little in the last few months. A pity really as they've been there or thereabouts for a few years now and if they had a bit more depth they could be up there with Sri Lanka I reckon.

Was surprised that Shakib was allowed to bat without a helmet, even against spin. I thought that was against the rules these days? And I know it's a lot slower, but getting lamped at 50mph is gonna tickle a little bit.

I thought it was compulsory, apparently not.
''The ICC’s General Manager Cricket, Geoff Allardice, said that the aim is to get all players to wear the safest helmets available.

The International Cricket Council today announced the introduction of new regulations that make it compulsory for batsmen to wear helmets which adhere to the highest safety standards when electing to wear a helmet in men’s and women’s international matches.

The new regulations, which have been incorporated in the ICC Clothing and Equipment Regulations effective 1 January 2017, do not make it compulsory to wear a helmet when batting, but when a batsman elects to wear a helmet it must be compliant with the new British Standard BS7928:2013. The regulations will be strictly enforced in international cricket from 1 February 2017.

Sanctions will be applied to batsmen who wear non-compliant helmets after 1 February. An official warning will be issued after each of the first two matches in which a non-compliant helmet is worn, and if there is a third breach of the regulations the player will be suspended for one-match.''

interesting, so if wearing a helmet it has to comply with the rules - that now incorporates the extra bits on the back that are there to protect you if you turn your head away from a bouncer - but (sensibly in my view) you can elect to go without on a hot day against the spinners.

Interesting stuff, thank you.
