When you have been sat in a rained off match for several hours, well it's not all bad, always a beer or two and some conversation to be had ^_^
Chance of a few more hours play tomorrow? Bouncing down here, should shift I hope to see us nick it on the last day? The way the Aussies have dug in was impressive and I think they'll hang in for a bit longer.

Looking at the rain radar we will be very lucky if we get any play today.
The annoying thing is that about 30 miles south of Manchester and it looks if they have only had light showers all day:banghead:

Ain't gonna happen. Shame, been a great series.

I don't understand quite why they don't factor in a reserve day. They do it for other games, and this is arguably the biggest series in world cricket.

I think the logistics of reserve days may be tricky. Particularly say when there are back to back tests

What I think should be considered is forcing 90 overs to be bowled unless serious rain delay in the day. There has been no day at Old Trafford when 90 overs were bowled and the light was fine when play finished each day

The series wasn't lost here though 🤔

Well, no. But it could have been levelled and set up for a decider.

As I said upthread, I really don't think we've been that bad against a formidable Aussie side. Lost by 2 wickets, 43 runs, won by 3 wickets and blown them away at Old Trafford.

Every confidence we'll win at The Oval.

Yeah, I do agree with you there. Slow over rates should be punished, and the umpires fannying about and making a pitch inspection then starting play 30/45 minutes later? Ridiculous.

Always find it quite ridiculous a game is drawn due to rain. Should be allowance for possible rain delays in the schedule and if that is not suffcient then award a result on Duckworth-Lewis or run rate or whatever.

I only knew the English players as they mentioned it on TMS! Quiz time.

I got 7 before I gave up, and then of course kicked myself because they were obvious and I should have known them (especially the two recent England ones!!!). I should actually have got 8 because (I won't give spoilers) one got rejected and I must have spelled it wrong.

I think the best I could have got was 10 or 11. There were three or four that I had forgotten about pretty much all together and one I just didn't know.

That's good going!

England unchanged XI for final test. I hope I'm wrong, but I'd have rested Jimmy, although it is probably his last test. if its a flat Oval Pitch I cant see him being that threatening, although he always keeps it tight.

In other news Lancs and Northants had to play their CC match on the test wicket, as the one they were due to play on got too wet during the test. Obv it has 3 days of use in teh test, and still playing pretty well, into day 2 / 5 Notts 320 odd for 6 in their first innings...

Lancashire clearly think it will turn and have picked 2 spinners, and one of their seamer apparently unable to get much life out of it was bowling off spin in ydays evening session.
