Interesting that you can still get Evens on the draw this morning

Unless the local forecast changes I can't see more than a few overs play Saturday/Sunday. So to get a result England will need to dismiss Australia today. I am not sure what the advantage is to England in batting on this morning. It isn't about runs, it's about time. May as well put Australia in now as opposed to at lunch.

its also about when its easiest to score fast runs on a deteriorating pitch, which is sooner rather than later. if cracks are appearing they will only get worse, so you want the aussies batting when the pitch is at its worst.

Yup. Ask Joe Root if he wants to bat again, or rather watch the Aussie batters getting grass-cutters like the one that got him out!

Makes sense, saves 10 minutes. It won’t be enough to avoid batting again unless the pressure really gets to them. Forecast for Saturday and Sunday looks thoroughly miserable for a bike ride and impossible for cricket at the moment.

BBC 5 Live extra are talking about Shane Warne's first test ball to Gatting. He said nobody had seen him before and he knew nothing about him. Oddly, I'd seen a very similar delivery from Warne before on some video coverage of an Australian game. So, rather bizarrely, I was better researched than Gatting himself.

I'm guessing we've declared.
