I don't know why there's not oodles of swing. I'm just back from a walk a couple of miles from the Oval and it's very humid.
Yet another draw looks likely sadly hopefully form will not suffer due to the messing about with the championship. Why they think playing the sharp end of the championship in September is a good idea I don't know.
quite bizarrely, if (big if - needs some sporting declarations and a Durham collapse) we actually won this game (in hand) we could go 2nd or 3rd, mainly because they have been so many (weather affected) draws. Durham are a cut above the rest of this division though, Leesy has been scoring runs for fun, first past 1000 runs and at a strike rate of 75. his positive approach is why they have won a few games and amassed a stack of batting points.
Also in county news young James Rew I mentioned a page or 6 back has gone past 1000 runs, the first in Div 1 to do this.
That would be a nice outcome. Always handy having a game in hand then again points in bag are what matters.
What are your thoughts on the Smith run out?
That would have swung it for England.
It was touch and go but probably the correct decision.
An innings each then. Based on how Australia have played, I know who my money is on. Even Boycott would have fallen asleep watching that bore fest from them yesterday.
After two innings and two days the scores are pretty much level, so it's irrelevant how each team made those runs.
What I suppose we don't know is if the Aussies can score quick runs against us should they need to.
That seems unlikely, only two days gone and our faster scoring rate means the Aussies are unlikely to be under time pressure to score whatever the target is we set.
In other words, they will probably be able to get the required runs at three an over.
