No it wouldn't. They are the patient not you.
You see nothing wrong with putting peoples life at risk? So no need to take a covid vaccination?
I think any argument for compulsion would need to be pretty compelling especially as it has the potential to breach employment and discrimination law. Anecdotally in the case of the flu jab it seems to me that uptake is good enough that compulsion would be unneccessary although I could understand people being perhaps a bit more reticent in the case of a newer vaccine like a potential one for Covid. However, most of my colleagues would I believe be quite eager to have the jab.

Everyone on here seems to be only talking about Pfizer but is ignoring Astrazeneca, which is the vaccine that the UK Gov purchased the most of. Pfizer relies on RNA whilst Astrazeneca took a more traditional approach. The 2 vaccine work in 2 different ways and no one knows who will be getting which vaccine.
I'm not ignoring AstraZeneca.

I didn't read the whole thread, flicked through 75% and didn't see anyone mention it. Just seems a lot of the thread went off topic at some parts or was all about Pfizer. So thought I'll mention it and add my bit.
Sorry I was teasing really. There's been another Covid vaccine thread going on in N&CA for some time but this one was only started in response to the recent news from Pfizer.

But yeah, I'm in the Oxford / AZ trial.

Did they give you the vaccine yet or not? Is it a double blind trial or is everyone getting the vaccine in the trial?

Had the jab early summer and then a booster late summer. It's double blind with a meningitis vaccine as control. I get a swab test every week and an antibody test every few months.

I believe they may be getting ready to release some data, they were waiting for 75 positive cases if I'm correct.

Any side effects from it?Guess you don't know which group you're in.

Had horrible post-vaccination reaction after the first injection which data from the phase 1 study suggests is associated with the Covid vaccine but equally could just be a reaction to the control vaccine.

My colleague is also in the trial and tested positive a couple of weeks ago but was totally asymptomatic. There are five of us in the office and he didn't manage to pass it on to any of us. What that all means I'm not sure...

Classic 'flu like symptoms' really. Muscle ache, headache, fatigue, that sort of thing. If I hadn't just had the vaccine I would have stayed off work. Managed it with paracetamol but it was pretty horrible.

In the grand scheme of things I don't think it was anything too out of the ordinary for a vaccine reaction though.

How did the other people you know in the trial react to it!?

Moderna vaccine looking good, and with better shelf life than Pfizer's. Fingers crossed for AZ to release some data soon although I don't think they'll unblind anyone just yet.
