Ours is generally on by lunch time now

It is lucky that the lounge seems to get warm quickly but the rest of the house stays pretty chilly so we don;t waste all that much
First thing I did when I moved in was t upgrade the double glazing - probably the best thing I have done!

I'm just watching ours - we're finding it too warm upstairs in an evening so the timer has been adjusted. We've noticed the cost has jumped from £15 a month for gas to £60 - bear in mind it's 3x more expensive now.

I've turned our upstairs TRVs down to 18° rather than 20° like downstairs (master thermostat is set at 18° anyway), it's still warmer upstairs regardless, but now at least those radiators don't come on for anywhere near as long.

Two of my storage heaters have been on for the last 3 weeks. THTC which means “Total Heat Total Control ”.
What this really means the only control you have is a thermostat and the on/off switch as SSE which I think is now Spanish controlled shifts the timing to suit themselves so they in fact have control. The timing is set to be less warm in the evening to encourage you to use even more electricity.

I remember having that some years ago and never really got my head round exactly who had control.

Mine is on now from 6.30 to 20.30 but I set it at 15 degrees. I leave it on even when not in the house otherwise it gets so cold it takes nearly all day to get up to a decent temp

It is just so tight not having it on. I can understand with people in poverty. Who wants to exist in a cold damp house when an extra £20 will have things toastie!?

Mrs R lights the fire around 7am in the last 2 cold weeks, not been above zero for 2wks now. Last log goes on around 9pm. At the weekend the living room log burner also goes on.

The rest of the time I’m preparing wood😂
