Central Heating - on yet?

Further to si_c saying open the lockshield valve just make sure you count how many turns it is to off in case the system was well balanced.

Balancing isn't needed so much now TRV's are used but BITD balancing meant each radiator passed enough water to ensure the correct temperature drop from inlet (TRV usually!) to outlet (lockshield) and this helped ensure warm up was optimal (ish 😂 it's often never done).
Or in my case, I shut off one radiator as the room wasn’t in use and then couldn’t work out why the radiator in the next room didn’t heat, turns out the two radiators are plumbed in series instead of parallel unlike all the other radiators!

I still have my living room radiator on, albeit on slightly warm. I hand washed three of my many wool/tweed flat caps yesterday morning and now as they've more or less drip dried I'm just speeding up the drying process.🧐

My nest thermostat is set to 18.5c and it’s locked so can’t be adjusted. Currently set to eco, so no heating for now. Was contemplating switching it on but since found out the back door has been left wide open all afternoon. Whilst No3 son is sat in his bedroom. So stuff that !!

We are currently in the Canaries just now . So reluctantly I’ve had to set the heating back home, so that the two eldest at home don’t keep complaining !

Anyway I’ve taken the advice of one of the posts on here and set the temp on the Nest thermostat to act like a timer. Seems the roundabout way to get it to work like a traditional thermostat on timer.
Heating has been working on average 2/3hrs in a 24hr period the way it’s set.since I’ve been away . If I can keep that going all throughout winter I’ll be happy !

Not bothered with heating at the moment ( I do suffer with both Rhumatiod and Osteio Arthritis ) I just put another fleece throw on the bed and so toastie ,, then 3 cats act as waterbottles ..

I'm considering putting shorts on today. My living room is south facing and a balmy 21.5c. I have no misconceptions though that ne t summer I'll be living outside under a taup.

Heating? not yet! I wear a jumper or some such with shorts and bare feet.... I find that quite comfy for some reason. I may resort to a blanket in the evening if my toes start looking a bit blue though.

Still not on and oil tank is full and raring to go, I reckon I’ll make it in to November before I need to turn it on.

Looking like November for us too here in the sunny south east.
Beautiful, warm sunny day today. Though once the sun dips it does get cold, but not enough to kick the heating on.
