Ah yes, I remember the days of ice on the inside of the windows.

One fireplace in the house = only source of heating or hot water from the back boiler = fire in Summer
No central heating.
Ice on the windows.
Wake in the morning snuggly warm under the eiderdown, watch your steamy breath.
No warm bath or shower in the morning.
Everybody in the living room - the only warm room in the house,

thermostat set 1.5 c lower than last year and family are moaning , it has kicked in the last couple of nights for a little bit as it has been pretty chilly .

My garden office is only 7 degrees. Bearable with fleecy trousers, fleecy fleece and a hot mug of tea. Don't want to use the electric heater yet.

it has been rather chilly cycling home after late shift, i have been getting home about 1.30am and its only just been bearble in autumn kit but im loathe to dig out the fleecy tops and leggings yet

Heating not on yet, house staying warm enough

Same here, though my partner was making noises yesterday evening about putting the heating on. Luckily here in the south east its getting warmer again towards and over the weekend. So will wait until next week to see what the weather is like and maybe switch it on.

Our heating would be on but the glass in the fire mysteriously cracked last week whilst not in use.

Re set the water heating, stole a couple of hours each day and turned the tank thermostat down. Will respond to complaints when they are registered.

Made vague threats, promises to put it on when we come back from holiday.
Suggested we have to get the plumber in to bleed the system and set it up. Bit of a fabrication but kicks it down the road.
Offered to go in the loft to get the winter woolies out.
On holiday, bought me a couple of weeks more.

MAny years ago I started to train to swap career to become a teacher
My old school found out and invited me to come round for a day to look round and get some experience

The Head had taken over from the previous Head - who had been there when I was there
He was a rather strict person with a strict Welsh Chapel upbringing
which I say strict think Cromwellian - although that seems a bit harsh on Cromwell!!!

ANyway - when the new Head was being shown round the house that came with the job he noticed that there was Central Heating - but could only see one radiator - in the lounge

He asked bout the rest of the house
The old Head's comment was that if they felt cold they would go round and OPEN every window in the house for half an hour - no matter what the weather outside
Then they would close them all
after which they all felt warmer

I'm sticking with my boiler and full central heating

As a child we lived in a two bedroom maisonette. The only fire was in the front room, coal, but we did have an Ascot gas water heater in the kitchen, so we could have hot water to wash in.
I remember ice on the inside of the windows in the morning , and rushing to the bathroom and back before getting cold.
When it was reall cold, Mum used to have the oven on with the door open to get some heat first thing.
