Heck Colin, your place sounds a bit cold and draughty to say the least!:cold:Have you ever thought about a one bedroom pokey but cosy social housing flat near Accrington? I think there's one that might be coming available soon. ;)
Ha ha. It is a bit chilly in the winter without the heating on, but it is great for 8 months of the year! Loads of space for me and my bikes. The kitchen has enough space for a table and 2 bikes, and still room to put up a work stand if weather conditions are too grotty to work on my bikes out in the large back yard.

been on since 1st Oct. i'd still have it off but the Mrs and child need the heat apparently :okay:
1hr in the morn and 1hr in the evening has been plenty at the moment

I replaced the rotary temperature set room sensor with a digital one which allows for different max temperatures so just enough to take any chill off 7-8am and then from late afternoon a build up of temperatures.

Because, and I'm just putting it out there so bear with me, people live in a wide variety of houses, climates, build standards and with differing health issues.
Good point. Ours is at 18 without any input from the boiler in maybe 6 days (we did put it on then a bit for the grandkids when they stayed over)
Late 60s, early 70s, mid terrace, well insulated loft, brick skin, timber and dry lined, insulation between the two...its always kept its heat quite well....and we usually have various windows open all the time upstairs.
If i want some warmth when i have a bath, i just close the windows and open the boiler and airing cupboard doors, that lets a modest amount of heag out upstairs.
Just reminded myself of old married quarters houses in the RAF, frost on the inside of the windows in the winter.:laugh:

Finally, gave in.
Got up this morning, 15 c, windows open, no problem.
Day at work and I wear a padded jacket all day, in, out, temps are a constant 13c in the building so it's neccessary . Trouble is, take it off when you get home...you feel cold. So, heatings on...and it feels lovely, must be getting old.
