Yep, gears started shifting a bit weird on my last ride and I was told by a cyclist-friend that it looks bent. I'll be taking it to the shop tomorrow for a professional opinion (although they might lie to make a sale!).

If it doesn't look straight then well.........
Look at angle of mech to cassette. Hangers typically £5 - £15 and designed to bend!

When but i prefer going out when the traffic can actually see you, roads are far less busy when the schools are on holiday anyways

What time are you planning on leaving Glasgow? If the weather isn't crap I'd consider doing it too, although I was originally planning on getting a train to Stirling and riding from there.
