@jazloc, done a map from the train station to the monument last perth ride, im still undecided if im cycling there and back or not yet

A note for train travellers: Scotrail can be quite insistent on not allowing excess bikes on the northwards routes out of Glasgow. The Aberdeen and Inverness services usually have 4 bike spaces. I recommend reserving a spot - at least in the morning.

It's quite simple to get from the train to the start - just follow the inner ring road clockwise and it will take you right to it. It's moderately busy, but there's so many red lights that traffic doesn't get too fast.
